How do I……. order a Prescription
When to Order
We suggest that you order a new prescription about 7-10 days before your stock runs out. This will give enough time to get the prescription and have it dispensed. Please allow a minimum of 48 hours.
Requesting a repeat prescription in writing
1. The easiest way to request a repeat prescription is to use the computer generated list.
This will have all the details we need to process your request. Place a tick beside each medicine you require. Cross through any medicines you don't require that time.
2. If you haven't got your computer generated list you will need to ask at reception.
The receptionist will print off a right hand side for you to tick the items you require.
3. Only order those medicines that you need this time.
You may not use all your medicines every day and not all medicines are intended to last the same length of time. Medicines will not be stopped just because they are not ordered every time, so only ask for those you need. If you require your medication aligning, so they all need replacing at the same time, please request a form from reception, or by email reception@gp.N81047.nhs.uk .

Requesting a Repeat Prescription by Email
You can now order your repeat prescription by emailing us at repeat.prescribing@gp-n81047.nhs.uk You will need to give your name, date of birth, patient number as well as listing with correct spellings and dosage EACH medication you want to order. We will not reply to emails. If there is any discrepancy or problem, this will need to be resolved when you come to collect your prescription, or we will ring you to resolve it. Please allow 48 hours for collection as with all methods of ordering.
Collecting your prescription
You can collect your prescription by
Calling into the surgery 48 hours after your request was put in.
Enclosing a stamped and self addressed envelope with your request.
Arranging for one of the local chemists to collect if for you. (Any arrangements made are between yourself and the chemist directly).
From time to time the surgery may ask you to make an appointment to have your medication reviewed. This is so that we can check that you are on the best medication available for you (new and improved medications are always becoming available), that they are not causing you any problems, are still needed and are being taken correctly.
Please let the surgery know if your medical condition(s) change, if you start taking other medicines regularly (including ones that you buy from the chemist) or if you have stopped any medication for any reason.
If there is any medication that you have not taken for over 12 months you may be referred to one of our practice nurses for assessment before a prescription can be issued.
If you have recently been discharged from hospital the Consultant will usually send the Medical Centre a copy of your discharge letter, which will list your discharge medications. On receipt of this any alterations will be made on your prescription list. If you need medication before this has been done you must bring a copy of your discharge letter to the surgery where upon this will be done. Any changes in medication instigated by a doctor elsewhere need to be in writing.
