Family Planning

We have highly trained nurses who can provide you with advice on any aspect of family planning, smears and contraception, including emergency contraception on Monday and Friday afternoons.

Emergency contraception is also available from our Nurse Practitioner or any of the GP’s.

Diabetes

Patients will be invited to attend this clinic every 6 months with blood tests taken 2 weeks before. This clinic is to ensure that all patients’ diabetes is kept under control and that their medications are still providing the best regime for them.

Counselling

A trained counsellor provides this service for our patients here at the surgery.

Our GP’s will refer you.

Coils

Several of our doctors are trained and equipped to perform insertion and removal of Intra Uterine Devices or Coils. This service can be accessed by referral from any GP or the family planning nurse, or the Practice Nurses.

Before you can have a coil fitted, you must attend with a GP for counselling on the device and its use, as well as having swabs taken to ensure infection is not a risk.

Chronic Disease Clinics – Asthma & COPD

We recommend all patients with asthma attend this clinic at least annually to help get the best control of their illness and be advised on how to respond to an exacerbation/attack, as well as ensuring their medications are the best for their asthma.

Appointments for this clinic can be made through reception or by invitation.

Childhood Immunisations

The Practice Nurses administer all childhood immunisations. You will be sent invitations through the post.

Please telephone the surgery to arrange an appointment.

Carers

We have a Carer’s Protocol which states how we provide support and care for those people who are carers for others. If you would like a copy, please ask at reception.

If you would like to identify yourself as a carer, please inform a clinician or a receptionist and we will try to provide whatever assistance we can. Kiltearn Medical Centre also has a strong relationship with Cheshire Carers.

CardioVascular

Patients who have had either heart attacks or strokes, or who suffer from angina will be invited into this clinic at least annually. This clinic is run to offer advice on maintaining a healthy heart and lifestyle.

Blood tests should be taken 2 weeks prior to the clinic appointment.
